Scholarships for the Families Left Behind
Founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney — a PGA golf professional and F-16 fighter pilot — the Folds of Honor Foundation provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America's fallen and disabled service members. The name comes from the thirteen folds of the American flag presented to a Gold Star family at a military funeral — each fold carrying its own meaning, its own weight.
Since its founding, Folds of Honor has awarded more than 50,000 scholarships across all fifty states, investing over $250 million in the families of those who gave everything. The foundation operates with a commitment to transparency and impact: more than ninety cents of every dollar donated goes directly to scholarship recipients.
